St. Patrick’s Parades in Diocese

Linda Busetti Photos

Irish eyes were smiling as the Annual Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade stepped off in Rockaway on a windy first day of March last Saturday. Grand Marshal James Callahan was escorted by a fine array of deputies including Msgr. John Brown, pastor of St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor.

Above, Parade Committee President Michael Benn and his grandson Michael were in fine form as they prepared for the march.

Local schools, such as Xaverian H.S., Stella Maris H.S., Archbishop Molloy H.S., and St. Rose of Lima and parish groups, such as St. Camillus Special Olympics, marched proudly down Newport Ave. Guests included the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork, Terry Shannon. Bagpipes played as Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians carried flags representig all 32 Irish counties, below.
