Kindergarten Explorers

Teacher Anna Sartini’s kindergartners at Our Lady of Guadalupe School, Bensonhurst, participate in the K.I.D.S. + Program, which allows them to explore science and theater arts. The children created their own rain forest and polar region and perfomed songs about these ecosystems for parents, teachers and Diana Meringolo, principal.


Bishop Frank Caggiano will lead the Cluster parishes of Bensonhurst through the streets in a Good Friday procession on March 21 at 8 p.m.


Join parishioners from St. Finbar, St. Athanasius, St. Mary Mother of Jesus, St. Bernadette, SS. Simon and Jude, St. Frances Cabrini, St. Dominic, Regina Pacis and Most Precious Blood.


The procession begins at 16th Ave. and 65th St and proceeds to 18th Ave. Make a right, go along 18th Ave. to Bay Ridge Pkwy., go left to 19th Ave. They then proceed down 19th Ave. to Bath Ave., then right again to St. Finbar on Benson Ave. between Bay 20th St. and Bay 19th. Carry a candle or crucifix.

Get your friends together and field a team for the 6th Annual Tommy Ashton 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, April 25-26, at St. Sebastian’s parish center in Woodside.


Men’s 40 and over Tournament starts at 7 p.m. on Friday. Men’s 21 and over and Women’s 18 and over start at 9 a.m., Saturday. A $125 registration fee per team includes T-shirts. Benefits St. Sebastian and neighborhood projects.


A party follows at CWV Post 870 at 7 p.m. Cost is $30.

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will celebrate Easter Sunday Mass to be broadcast on The Prayer Channel on March 23 at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 5 p.m. on Channel 97 Time Warner Cable and Channel 30 Cablevision. The bishop will be joined by the St. Barnabas combined choirs of the Bronx.

The Way of the Cross will be commemorated on Good Friday, March 21 starting at noon at Visitation parish, Red Hook, with an outdoor procession. Join the 28 cross bearers and others beginning around the corner on Verona and walk through the streets of the parish.

Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens in partnership with Common Ground has launched Street to Home, which will provide services and referrals to single homeless adults. If you see someone in need of assistance, call Norman Cosentino, director of Street to Home, at 718-360-8000.


Dominican Village, an independent and assisted living rental retirement community run by the Sisters of St. Dominic at 565 Albany Ave., Amityville, L.I., is holding open house on March 29, 1-3 p.m.

Join parishioners from Our Lady of the Snows Human Concerns Center, Floral Park, on a one-day retreat to St. Joseph’s Shrine in Stirling, N.J. on Wednesday, May 28. The bus departs at 7:30 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. The day includes a conference, time to walk the lovely grounds, a delicious meal and Mass.
