Celebrating The Tablet’s 100th Year

The Mary Louis Academy, Jamaica Estates - circa 1940

From The Tablet of March. 17, 1928

Lead Story

Walter Lippmann, of N.Y. World, Is Calles Guest - Writer Who Has Espoused Great Persecutor of Church Received in Mexico with Acclaim

Mexico City, March 15 (Special to The Tablet) - “Walter Lippmann, chief editorial writer for the New York World and the great champion of Mexico in that paper, was the guest at a dinner given in behalf of President Calles yesterday. Mr. Lippmann, whose work and whose paper you have so effectively attacked and exposed - bringing about at least a negative result - was right in his element. He is here as the guest of Ambassador Morrow, whose measure The Tablet took immediately after he was appointed. The Catholics of the United States should note the triumvirate - Calles, Lippmann, Morrow.”
