Local Women Honored

To observe Women’s History Month, Brooklyn State Senator Martin Golden recently honored women from the community for their outstanding service. Those honored were, Andrea D’Emic, principal of St. Patrick’s School, Bay Ridge; Sister Virginia Lake, CSJ, director of Institutional Advancement at Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst; Sandy Irrera, who is involved with local schools and charitable organizations, including the Guild for Exceptional Children; Iris Y. Chiu, assistant principal of Lafayette H.S., Bensonhurst; Carmella Golino, from St. Finbar’s parish, Bath Beach, and Maureen
Neuringer of Mapleton Kiwanis.

In preparation for the Easter season, the parishes of Brooklyn West Cluster #6 invite you to join them for a Day of Prayer and Reconciliation on Wednesday, March 28, at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 467 Court St., Carroll Gardens.
The day begins with 9:30 a.m. Mass followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. The church will remain open all day for prayer and adoration. The Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession will be available from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and from 4:30 -7:30 p.m. Benediction follows.

The Catholic Migration Office, Languages for Ministry Program, offers Spanish classes at both the beginner and intermediate levels. Classes are open to those who minister in the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens. The program begins April 17. State Senator Martin Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) announced the donation of 10 refurbished computers to St. Patrick’s School, Bay Ridge, through the New York Power Authority’s program of providing such computers to educational institutions across the state. Sen. Golden planned to visit students, who will be using the computers, along with St. Patrick’s principal Andrea D’Emic.

Sharing God's Love

The confirmation class at Christ the King’s religious education program in Springfield Gardens recently helped the younger children make “Love God” refrigerator stick-ons. These were sold after Sunday Masses to supplement mission money collected by the children’s Propagation of the Faith Lenten mite boxes.
