They’re Off to See the Wizard!

St. Mary’s Drama Guild, Woodside, will present The Wizard of Oz on April 20, 26 and 27 at St. Mary’s Auditorium, 70-20 47th Ave., Woodside. More than 100 children from Woodside, Sunnyside, Maspeth, Woodhaven, Ozone Park and Middle Village will join together to recreate the Frank Baum classic. Call 718-672-4848 for ticket information.


Spring Is for the Birds, a children’s comedy the whole family can enjoy, will be presented at Maggie’s Little Theater in St. Margaret’s parish hall, Middle Village, on April 5, 6, 12 and 13 at 1:30 p.m.

The Bensonhurst Cluster is sponsoring a Bereavement Support Group on Mondays, April 7 - May 12, 7:30-9 p.m. The group will be led by Sister Barbara Murtha, C.S.J., in the Nazareth Institute of St. Athanasius Church. Call 718-236-0124 ext. 44.


Msgr. Michael Dempsey is scheduled to celebrate Sunday Mass at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on April 13 on the Prayer Channel, Channel 97 on Time Warner Cable and Channel 30 on Cablevision.

Our Lady of Angels, Bay Ridge, presents a movie series themed “Men and Women Who Gave It All Up for God” on Sundays, April 13, 20 and 27 at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium.


The films will include “The Keys of the Kingdom” with Gregory Peck, “The Mission” with Robert DeNiro, and Leonardo DeFilippi’s film, “Therese.”

Pennies Count at HCJ

Walter Cooper, coordinator of the Food Pantry at Holy Child Jesus parish, Richmond Hill, thanks the students of the National Junior Honor Society Paragon Chapter, who collected $500 in pennies in their monthlong Pennies Count Project and donated them to benefit the Food Pantry.
