Sister Agnes Larkin, C.S.J., formerly Sister Aloysia Maria, 88, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood for 60 years, died March 20, in Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood.


She entered the Congregation in 1948 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Brooklyn.


While earning her bachelor's and master’s degree in English from St. John’s University and St. Bonaventure University respectively, she taught in St. Benedict Joseph Labre, Richmond Hill, 1950-57; St. Stanislaus Kostka, Maspeth, 1957-60; Sacred Heart Seminary, Hempstead, 1960-61; Holy Child Jesus, Richmond Hill, 1961-1965; and St. Frances de Chantal, Wantagh, 1971-1972.


Teaching English on the secondary level began in Bishop McDonnell H.S., Brooklyn, 1965-1968, then at Academia Maria Reina, Puerto Rico; 1968-1971, and Sacred Heart Academy H.S. where, in addition to teaching she assumed the role of chairperson of the English department, 1972-1994.


In 2007, she retired to St. Joseph Convent, Brentwood.


She is survived by her brother, John.


Sister Rose Alonzo McKinney, C.S.J., 90, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood for 72 years, died March 22, in Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood.


She entered the Congregation in 1937 from Holy Name parish, Park Slope, and was then sent in 1948 to St. John’s University where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English.


In 1963, she received a master of science degree in guidance followed by a year of post graduate work in English in Yeshiva University.


As an elementary teacher, she ministered in St. Benedict Joseph Labre, Richmond Hill, 1938-42; St. Anthony of Padua, Greenpoint, 1942-45; St. Rose of Lima, Parkville, 1946-49; and St. Michael, Flushing, 1949-50.


From 1950 to 1965, she taught high school English in Bishop McDonnell H.S., St. Joseph Commercial H.S., both Brooklyn, and St. Pascal Baylon H.S., St. Albans.


She was superior/principal of Sacred Heart Academy, Hempstead, 1965-1970 and then returned to teaching English at Stella Maris H.S., Rockaway Park, 1970-1988.


She is survived by her brothers James, John, Richard, and her sister, Martha, (Sister Lucille de la Providencia), a Little Sister of the Poor in France.


Sister Marie Amata Wlodkowski, O.P., a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, for 60 years, died March 30.


She was 82 years old.


Born in St. Stanislaus Kostka parish, Greenpoint, she worked in the business world before entering the Dominican Order in 1947 and taking the religious name of Sister Marie Amata.


She taught at St. Agnes School, Rockville Centre, 1949-63; and Christ the King, Commack, 1963-71. After a House of Prayer experience, 1971-74, she taught at the Little People’s Center, 1974-88.


For the past 20 years, she has worked in the Office of Information Technology at the Dominicans’ motherhouse in Amityville.


She is survived by her sister, Irene Dotero of Greenlawn.


Florence Patricia Monahan Dillon, a graduate of and strong alumnus of Good Shepherd School, Marine Park, 1946, and St. Brendan’s Diocesan H.S., Midwood, 1950, died on Jan. 9.


She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward; two sons, and three daughters.
