Marine Park Pastor Returns To Students’ Greetings

HOMECOMING: Balloons filled the air and school children lined the street on the day Msgr. Thomas Brady, pastor of Good Shepherd parish, Marine Park, returned home after recovering from a severe stroke.

For nearly four months, Msgr. Thomas Brady, pastor of Good Shepherd aprish, Marine Park, has worked extremely hard, trying his best to recover as quickly as possible from a severe stroke.

He had the care of excellent doctors and nurses. But perhaps the best remedy was the prayers of the students of Good Shepherd School. They know that the real reason for his miraculous and speedy recovery was their prayers. His return home on March 6 was proof to them that God does answer their prayers.

Several students expressed their sentiments in essays.
Haley-Jo Kenny, an eighth grader wrote:

“The entire school prepared a joyous greeting and homecoming for Msgr. Brady, complete with colorful balloons and welcome home banners and signs.”

Jamie Tramontano and Alicea Hernandez, both fourth graders, put together this sentiment:

“Monsignor Brady was in the hospital for a long time. Finally, he is home. All of the students of Good Shepherd School lined Brown St. as a van brought him home to us. There was a balloon arch over Brown St. All the students held up banners and posters with ‘Welcome Home’ messages on them. As his van passed, we all clapped and cheered and yelled ‘Welcome Home.’ March 6 was a very happy day for all of us in Good Shepherd School.”

Michael Guerin, of the fifth grade, put it this way:

“If I could wish for anything I would wish for Monsignor Brady to be completely well. I wish he was back at Mass on Sundays. I wish he was visiting us in the school. Most of all I wish he was back in the school yard at dismissal. He makes us laugh. We miss him.”
