Girl Scouts Show Their Reverence with Retreat

The Catholic Committee on Scouting conducted a retreat day Sunday, March 25, for all Girl Scouts in Brooklyn and Queens at the diocesan offices at 310 Prospect Park West in Park Slope. The theme of the day was the Rosary. Highlights included a living Rosary made of votive lights (right); a vocation talk by Sister Mary Walsh, CSJ; and the celebration of Mass with Father Daniel Weiscopf, chaplain to the Scouting movement in the diocese. During the day, the girls constructed homemade Rosaries for themselves and to send to the American troops in Iraq. More than 100 girls participated in the events, which were coordinated by Frances Koren of Our Lady of Angels parish, Bay Ridge, and Mary Ellen Keough of Holy Name, Park Slope. Eighty-one parishes in Brooklyn and Queens conduct Girl Scout programs.
