Students from the Holy Name of Jesus School’s Aquinas Circle in Park Slope will present, “The Stories Never End, The Love Never Dies,” a historic tour of Green-Wood Cemetery on May 12 and 13.
Through theatrical performances they will bring to life the stories of Leonard Bernstein, Henry Chadwick, Charlotte Canda, Johnny Torio and many other characters who are buried in the historic cemetery.

This Week’s Tip of The TabletTalk Top Hat goes to sixth-grade teacher Carl Ballenas and Dr. Charlene Jaffie, principal, of Immaculate Conception School, Jamaica Estates.
Ballenas was a winner of the History Channel’s National Save Our History Contest. He was honored for his commitment to teaching students about their local history.
Dr. Jaffie has been chosen as a New York State Woman of Distinction for 2007. She was selected for her tireless dedication to the children of Queens and will be honored at a ceremony in Albany on June 5.
More good news...Sister Maureen Ahlemeyer, principal of St. Raphael School, LIC, was honored by Queens Borough President Helen Marshall at a Women’s History Month Reception for her work and dedication in the community.
Sister Maureen, a member of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a native of Queens. She has devoted her entire career to the children and families of Long Island City where she has been principal of St. Raphael for 21 years..

Feast of St. Anselm

Kindergartners made and wore miters in honor of St. Anselm, a bishop, at St. Anselm’s School, Bay Ridge, on April 20. In Msgr. Michael Philips’ homily, he said the saint was a good role model for the children. Nine eighth-graders were installed as lectors at St. Anselm’s School, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
