Religious Recognition for Scouts

Auxiliary Bishop Guy A. Sansaricq presided at the annual Scouting Religious Recognition Ceremony sponsored by the Diocese’s Catholic Committee on Scouting April 27 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Forest Hills. The following awards were presented to deserving scouts and scout leaders: Family of God, I Live My Faith, International Awareness Emblem, Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei Award, Ad Altare Dei, Pope Pius XII, Pope Paul VI National Unit Recognition Award, Golden Bow, Bronze Pelican, and the St. George Emblem. The 2007 Gold Medallion Unit went to Crew 99 of St. Athanasius parish, Bensonhurst. The national Catholic Committee on Scouting presented the 2007 Quality Diocese Award to the Brooklyn Diocese. The Diocesan Committee also announced that all units are invited to march in the Knights of Columbus Independence Day Parade, Saturday, June 28, when its chairman, Brian Long, will be honored with the K. of C. Pro Patria Award.
