Nine new altar servers, front row, were installed recently at St. Catherine of Sienna parish, St. Albans, to join the veterans who serve the parish. Come support a great cause at the annual Hour Children Golf Outing on Monday, June 2, to be held at Hamlet Wind Watch, Hauppauge. Hour Children helps formerly incarcerated women and their children to get a fresh start in life.

This Week’s Tip of The TabletTalk Top Hat goes to Philip Manetta, an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 45 Maspeth who lives in St. Adalbert parish, Elmhurst. “St. Adalbert has done a lot for me. This is why I have chosen to do something for St. Adalbert,” he said explaining that his Scout project will be to clean, paint and organize two storerooms in the basement of St. Adalbert Elementary School. Along with other members of Troop 45, Philip will reorganize boxes, supplies and materials used by school, church and other ministries. Their efforts will make it easier for staff to locate what they need, when they need it.

“Among Friends” is a group that meets at 6 p.m. most Saturday nights at St. Matthias, Ridgewood. They are people drawn to spirituality who get together to talk about their faith and the questions they may have.

Wax Museum in Jamaica

The Great Historical Wax Museum opened on April 30 at Immaculate Conception School, Jamaica. Visitors were able to stroll through the exhibit of more than 100 presentations, see above, created by fifth- and sixth-graders. The exhibits included audio presentations. A coin deposited in a slot in front of each “wax figure” activated the historical character. Presentations included Abraham Lincoln, Amelia Earhart, Archbishop Oscar Romero, Queen Mary of England, Annie Oakley, and ancient Egyptians.
