Three Diocesan Priests Mark
25th Anniversaries
Father Ralph E. Barile, pastor of St. Mary’s parish, Long Island City, will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving in October.
A native of the Bronx, he attended St. Edward’s University, Austin, Texas; Fairfield University, Conn.; St. Thomas Aquinas University (Angelicum), Rome, Italy. He was ordained Oct. 30, 1982 for the Diocese of Trenton, N.J.
He has served as an assistant at Immaculate Conception, Astoria, 1989-1993; St. Mel’s, Flushing, 1993-1997; St. Bernadette’s, Dyker Heights, 1997-1998; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Windsor Terrace, 1998-2000, and St. Margaret’s, Middle Village, 2000-2003.
In 2003, he was named pastor of St. Mary’s.
Father Paul C. Palmiotto, pastor of St. Bonaventure and St. Benedict the Moor, both in Jamaica, celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving on March 24.
A Queens native, he attended Our Lady of Fatima School, Jackson Heights; P.S. 32 and St. Andrew Avellino, both Flushing; St. Pascal Baylon H.S., St. Albans; Queensborough Community College, Bayside; Cathedral College, Douglaston; and Immaculate Conception Seminary, Huntington.
He was ordained by Bishop Francis J. Mugavero on March 20, 1982 at St. Mary Mother of Jesus Church, Bensonhurst, where he served as a deacon.
He served as co-pastor of St. Mary Mother of Jesus, 1982-88; and as an assistant at St. Frances Cabrini, Bensonhurst, 1988-89, and St. Rose of Lima, Parkville; 1989-95.
In 1995, he was named pastor of St. Bonaventure. In 1996, he took on the additional duties of administrator of St. Benedict the Moor, where he also was named pastor in 1997.
Father Jean-Pierre Ruiz, a professor of theology at St. John’s University, Jamaica, will celebrate a Mass of thanksgiving at St. Patrick’s, Long Island City, on Sunday, May 27, 10:30 a.m.
Born in Astoria, he attended St. Gabriel’s School, East Elmhurst; Fordham Prep, the Bronx; Columbia
University, Manhattan; Cathedral College, Douglaston; and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
While studying in Rome, he ministered at Carlo Forlanini Hospital, and also was associated with the Vatican Radio station. During the summer of 1981, he served as a deacon for the American military command in Mainz, Germany.
He was ordained May 20, 1982 by Bishop Francis J. Mugavero at the North American College, Rome.
He served as an assistant at Sacred Heart, Adelphi St., Fort Greene, 1982, and then returned to Gregorian University for further studies.
After a short assignment at St. Teresa’s, Woodside, he joined the faculty at St. John’s University in 1987.
He resided at St. John Vianney, Flushing, 1991-94, and at St. Patrick’s, Long Island City, since 1994.
