NEWLY COMMISSIONED lay pastoral leaders who studied at Holy Rosary Center, Bedford-Stuyvesant, posed with Auxiliary Bishop Frank Caggiano after the commissioning ceremony May 11 at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston.

Bishop Frank Caggiano presided at the Liturgy and Commissioning Ceremony May 11 for those persons who have completed the lay formation program sponsored by the diocesan Pastoral Institute. Among the 60 persons honored were men and women representing 25 parishes in the diocese.

“While all baptized persons are called to serve others, the new lay pastoral leaders have been prepared to coordinate new or existing parish programs,” explained Sister Angela Gannon, C.S.J., director of the Pastoral Institute. “The education and formation they have received has broadened their theological knowledge, deepened their spirituality, and enhanced their skills so that they will be effective in their service to others.”
