Sister Margaret Mary Phillips, OP, a member of the faculty of Bishop Loughlin M.H.S., Fort Greene, since 1985, died June 29.
A member of the Sisters of St. Dominic, Amityville, for 51 years, she was 73 years old.
Born in Middle Village, she entered the order in 1956 from Our Lady of Mercy parish, Forest Hills, and took the religious name of Sister James Lawrence.
Before being assigned to teach in Puerto Rico in 1968, she taught at Fourteen Holy Martyrs, Bushwick; Sacred Heart, East Glendale; and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dyker Heights.
From 1968 to 1971, she taught at Our Lady of the Rosary, Vega Baja, and Holy Rosary, Yauco.
She also taught at All Saints, Williamsburg, 1971-73; St. Nicholas H.S., Williamsburg, 1973-76; St. Thomas Apostle, Woodhaven, 1976-77; and St. Joseph, Astoria, 1977-85.
Since 2002, she lived at Good Shepherd Convent, Marine Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celerbated July 3 at Good Shepherd Church. Burial was in Amityville.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Sullivan and Joan Kirk.
Jeanne Davis Glynn, former executive producer of the nationally syndicated television and radio interview show, “Christopher Closeup,” died June 8. She was 75.
From her first job in 1957 as a production assistant to Father James Keller, M.M., founder of The Christophers, Glynn’s involvement with the organization spanned five decades.
She served on the organization’s board of directors for 25 years before stepping down in 2006.
