Eighth-grade graduates from St. Anselm, Bay Ridge, have earned an impressive $502,000 in scholarships to the following Catholic high schools: Bishop Kearney, Bensonhurst; Bishop Ford, Park Slope; St. Saviour, Park Slope; Xaverian, Bay Ridge; Regis and Xavier, Manhattan.

Congratulations to these graduates, pictured here, Sarah Allam, Paulette Benware, Zachary Calabrese, Meghan Cherian, Michael Connors, Peter DeSantis, Anthony DeLorenzo, Mousa Kawwa, Brian Mastro, Elizabeth Miller, Daniel Morris, Michael Osorio, Frank Ragusa, Joseph Tran, Justin Vega, and Allison Kozak, not pictured.

Kudos to Sister Eileen Mary McMahon, SSND, principal, at right, and Msgr. Michael Phillips, pastor, at left, and the faculty for their outstanding leadership.

CK Welcomes Newcomers,

Thanks Retirees

Administrators, faculty and students at Christ the King R.H.S., Middle Village, extend a hearty welcome to Father Kevin Abels, parochial vicar at St. Sebastian, Woodside, who will serve as part-time chaplain to the school starting this fall.

The school also welcomes Sister Elizabeth Graham and Sister Maryann Kollmer, who will serve as spiritual directors. They're replacing Deacon Robert Lavanco, who retired last month.

On June 16, CK's administration, faculty and staff held a wine and cheese party to celebrate the retirements of Deacon Lavanco and social studies teacher Richard Vargas. At left, Paul Norman, CK's religion department chairman, right, wishes Deacon Lavanco, left, a happy retirement.
