Edward G. Dunn, Sr., funeral director and proprietor of Edw. H.C. Dunn, Inc. Funeral Home, died July 5. He was a resident of Brooklyn and Point Lookout, L.I.


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 10 at St. Saviour's Church, Park Slope.


He was a former member of the board of trustees of Bishop Ford Central Catholic H.S.; former member of the board of managers of the Prospect Park YMCA; past president of the South Brooklyn Lions Club; secretary of New York Methodist Hospital Board of Trustees; member of the National Funeral Directors Assn.; life member of the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Assn.; charter member of the Catholic Cemetery Guild of the Diocese of Brooklyn; a member of the St. Francis College Alumni Assn.; and a Knight of Malta. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.


He is survived by his wife, Rose F. O'Loughlin; and their children, Edward G., Jr., Walter R., Robert F., Thomas A., and Meg.



Brother Albert Buckley, SC, a member of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart for 63 years, died June 30.


For 31 years, he taught religion and mathematics and coached track at Msgr. McClancy M. H.S., East Elmhurst. He also taught in the Bronx; Huntington, L.I.; and St. Louis.


He entered the community from St. Luke's parish, the Bronx, and pronounced perpetual vows in 1955.


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 6 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Jackson Heights. Interment was in the Brothers' Cemetery, Metuchen, N. J.


Eileen Lavin (nee Jones), a Rockaway resident for 29 years, died July 17.


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 21 at St. Francis de Sales Church, Belle Harbor.


Born in Brooklyn, she was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Battle.


She is survived by her husband, William K. Lavin; children, Maureen A. Sawyer (Scott), Jeanine A. Zocks, Trici A., William K. Jr., Maribeth A., James T., and Robert V.; and her brother, Thomas N. Jones.


Interment was in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village.


Catina Hoban, a former secretary for more than 25 years for the Diocese of Brooklyn and St. Joseph's H.S., Downtown Brooklyn, died July 21.


A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica, Sunset Park.


A resident of Bay Ridge and Breezy Point, she is survived by her children, Martin, Jr., Thomas G., and her brothers, John, Joseph, and Ernest LaMonica.


She also was the mother of the late hero police officer, Christopher Hoban, who died in the line of duty
