The Capt. Vinny Brunton Golf Outing will be held at Jacob Riis Park Pitch and Putt on Aug. 10. The fundraiser is a memorial to a firefighter who died on 9/11.

The Worldwide Marriage Encounter organization will hold a weekend on Aug. 10-12 at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston.
The weekend is for married couples who want to enrich their marriages by learning to communicate better with one another. Presentations are by three couples and a priest. Time is set aside for couples to share in private. No group discussions.

The parish honored her at a farewell reception on July 22.
Celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sunset Park, on Sunday, Aug. 19, during noon Mass in the upper church.
Mass will be followed by a corned beef and cabbage dinner in Notre Dame Hall, 552 59th St., 1-5 p.m. Entertainment by Gabriel Donohue plus the Golden Dancers.

Admission is free; bus is $20. A bus leaves St. Adalbert, Elmhurst, at 8:15 a.m. The day includes American and Polish food, music, entertainment, homemade babki, children’s games, rides, crafts and a huge tag sale.
Following Mass and a raffle drawing, the bus departs from Monroe at 5:30 p.m.

The Diocesan Pilgrimage Office is coordinating four pilgrimages in 2008.
Now is the time to make plans to take part in one of them: A pilgrimage to Lourdes and Paris scheduled for April 14-21 with a tour extension to Rome or Fatima; a pilgrimage to the 49th International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec, Canada, June 17-23; World Youth Day, 2008, in Sydney, Australia, with Pope Benedict XVI, July 12-21 with a tour extension to Melbourne; and the bi-annual pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., Oct. 24-25, 2008.

Remember Sister Marian?

Sister Marian Keane (formerly Sister Charles Borromeo) is celebrating 60 years as a Dominican. From 1969 to 1999 she served St. Andrew Avellino parish, Flushing, by teaching middle school, working in pastoral ministry, teaching CCD and remedial reading and working with the homeless and elderly. Sister Marian, who turns 99 soon, lives in Columbus, Ohio.
