Honored for Rescuing Dad

The Boy Scouts of America’s Medal of Merit was awarded to Life Scout Daniel Foulds, right, pictured with his parents Eileen and Charles and State Sen. Frank Padavan. Foulds, of Troop 18, St. Fidelis, College Point, rescued his father while the two were on a duck hunting trip on the Hudson River in upstate New York last November.
Part of the 175th Anniversary of St. Michael parish, Flushing, will be the celebration of Nuestra Senora de la Caridad del Cobre, patroness of Cuba.

This Week’s Tip of The TabletTalk Top Hat goes to Sister Loretta D. Rybacki, starting her 14th year as principal of St. Teresa of Avila School, S. Ozone Park, who celebrates her 50th anniversary in religious life.
Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in 1958. From 1960-1995 she taught at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, Ozone Park; St. Joseph, Jamaica; and St. Adalbert, Elmhurst. Sister joined the Society of Sisters for the Church and professed final vows in 1995. She will become president of the SSC community in 2009.

Pilgrimage to Holy Land

Parishioners from St. Benedict Joseph Labre, Richmond Hill; St. Thomas the Apostle, Woodhaven; and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, S. Ozone Park, joined Father Thomas Gilbert of St. Benedict’s on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and Egypt. Here they are in front of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem where they had Mass.
