St. Anselm’s Ready to Implement Parish Goals

The Parish Pastoral Planning Council of St. Anselm’s parish, Bay Ridge, will conduct a Parish Assembly to kick off the implementation phase of the parish plan. it will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Meletia Hall, located in the parish school at 365 83rd St.

Just over a year ago, St. Anselm’s parish began its planning process to focus on the next five years of the parish’s life. Through a series of activities, which were met with much enthusiasm and participation, hundreds of St. Anselm parishioners shared their hopes, concerns and recommendations.

The upcoming assembly will be an opportunity to review the goals and objectives and to discuss what it will take for implementation.

As a results of the parish consultation, some changes have already been made. A monthly Wednesday evening Mass was initiated by the parish core staff.

The four goals established by the parish are:

• to enhance and encourage participation in worship;

• to develop opportunities to support life-long faith formation;

• to broaden our response to the needs of our parishioners and community; and

• to promote effective communication about parish life.

John Quaglione, a member of the Parish Pastoral Planning Council said, “The parish goals and objectives reflect the best thinking of parishioners of St. Anselm’s. However, right now, they are just dreams on paper! If they are to become realities, it will take the direct involvement of willing people to work on their implementation and we seek the help of the parish community as we enter this important phase. There are many ways to get involved, so we are strongly encouraging participation and attendance at the Parish Assembly.”

The Parish Pastoral Council can be contacted at 718-238-2900.
