St. Stan/Transfiguration’s Choir Gears Up for Concert

Under the direction of Don Competello, music minister, the newly formed St. Stanislaus Kostka/Transfiguration Children’s Choir of Maspeth is rehearsing for their special Christmas Concert on Dec. 16, 3:30 p.m. at St. Stan’s Church. All are welcome to attend and sing along.

Sister Rose Torma, C.S.J., St. Stan’s School principal, was instrumental in starting the choir with Competello whose willingness and hard work has enabled the young singers to flourish.

The Children’s Choir is open to all children of both parishes and they sing every other Sunday at St. Stan’s 9:30 a.m. Mass.

Rings for Rego Park Eighth-Graders

Members of Resurrection-Ascension’s Class of 2008 proudly display their graduation rings, which they received during a special ceremony at their Rego Park parish on Nov. 12. Eighth-graders were seated by homeroom and parents and family cheered loudly as each name was called. Once the rings were blessed by Msgr. Vincent Fullam, pastor, they were distributed by eighth-grade teachers, Janna Valente and Ann Gagnon.

What gifts has the Holy Spirit given you? How do you use them in service to others?

The Holy Spirit gave me the gift of knowledge. I’m aware of many issues and injustices in society. I help others by giving them advice or just listening to their problems. I also stand up for things I feel are unfair.

I would say the Holy Spirit has given me knowledge. I use it to help those younger than me know what to expect in life.

The Holy Spirit has given me courage, especially this year because I am new to this school. I was very nervous so I prayed and prayed and now I am very thankful to be here.
