Two Sisters of St. Joseph Honored

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood recently honored two of their own at their annual gala dinner-dance held at the Garden City Hotel.

Sister Anne Behre, CSJ
Sister Kathleen Sullivan, CSJ
The honorees were Sister Anne Behre, CSJ, a pioneer in the education of the deaf, and Sister Kathleen Sullivan, CSJ, principal of St. Francis Xavier School, Park Slope, for the past 35 years.

Sister Anne founded the St. Francis School for the Deaf in 1960. The school currently is located at the former Bishop McDonnell H.S. building on Eastern Pkwy in Crown Heights. Now retired, she continues to serve as chairperson of the Board of Directors of the school.

Sister Kathleen’s tenure as principal has been marked by a strong collaboration with the parents of the neighborhood.
