Bishop Visits Beirut

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio was part of a Catholic delegation meeting with Iraqi refugees in the Middle East in July. In this photo, he is shown in Beirut, Lebanon, with members of the Chebo family, who told the bishop they had fled Baghdad after a family business was destroyed in a bombing by insurgents. In his column (July 21), Bishop DiMarzio wrote: “How true it is, and how much it is like ‘putting out into the deep,’ to leave one’s country to find a new life. This is especially true for the children who are displaced and who for the most part have no opportunity to continue their education.”
