The Tablet is the official newspaper of the Roman Catholic Diocese
of Brooklyn, whose publisher is the Diocesan Bishop. It seeks to inform, inspire, educate and strengthen the religious identity of its readers.
The Tablet's Mission is to:
Serve as a vehicle by which the Diocesan Bishop may fulfill his responsibility as a teacher of
the faith.
Advance the public image of the Church, particularly as reflected in
the Diocese.
Promote the mission of the Church universally, domestically and
locally.
Present news of the Church at the international, national and local levels,
with particular emphasis on the last named.
Offer opinion on religious and
secular issues that is rooted in Church teaching and is written with charity.
Provide opportunity for readers to comment on or
discuss
issues in a manner that respects differing opinions.
Recognize the racial, ethnic and cultural diversity of the Diocese by
selecting material for publication
that is sensitive to their concerns and needs.
Clarify confusion that may
be spread by inaccurate reporting on Church matters that appears in other media.
