Two students from Good Shepherd School, Marine Park, attended the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., in mid-July. Themed “Voices of Leadership: Reflecting on the Past to Create the Future,” the conference introduces young people to the rich tradition of leadership throughout American history, while helping them develop their own leadership skills.
Alexis Costa and Thomas Finnelli, at left, both rising seventh graders, completed the six-day session along with over 250 middle school students from around the country.
Students participated in educational activities and presentations and visited sites, such as Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, and D.C.’s monuments and memorials.
